Description

This is meant to be in the same vein as "Untitled 1" [link]
Agh, I promise I'm working on stuff with real backgrounds!

Anyway, there's a long story behind this and my current art series. My current work is based on the concept of innocence and its survival in an increasingly hostile world. It's very personal and stems from real-life events from the past year and a half.
I decided to practice palette work with several pieces, digital and traditional, as of late. Amusingly enough, people began to ask me if I'm vain because all my recent pieces seem to feature me, in some way or other. :P I had wanted to work with more faces (just never had the time), so I've now begun to choose people to model for me who remind me of myself for certain reasons. I met Lara in my figure drawing class this past semester, and she was kind enough to pose for reference shots.
I have always wanted to paint a blonde, so that was new and interesting. I portrayed Lara as the Pandora-like character from my Sneg piece. Both this and another piece with Lara I am creating deal with the idea of approaching acceptance. After the catastrophic event, a "loss of innocence" (don't worry; nothing terrifying happened to me), Pandora learns to work through her grief. It is not the same as being "okay" with what happened, but it does mean she can finally start living again.
As always, symbolism can be found in colors I use, shapes, etc.

Love the sketchiness and how you aren't afraid to "color outside the lines"!
